The New York City immigrant crisis has renewed the calls for Staten Island to secede from New York City, prompting Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) to lead the charge earlier this week.
(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) and three other colleagues from New York responded to New York Governor Kathy Hochul's request for more federal funds and access to more federal lands to deal with the migrant crisis created by President Joe Biden and made worse by Governor Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams.
Following a series of protests across Staten Island over proposed shelters sites for asylum seekers, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis appeared on “Mornings On 1” Wednesday to address the migrant crisis and voice concerns from her constituents.
The protests, sparked by fears over the safety of local communities, have included strong language against asylum seekers, prompting Mayor Eric Adams to condemn them as racist and “challenging to hear.”
However, Malliotakis said residents are afraid because of what they have heard from other migrant sites.
During Sunday’s broadcast of FNC’s “The Fox Report,” Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) accused President Joe Biden, New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) of incentivizing illegal immigration.
Malliotakis laid out how Adams and Hochul successfully used the courts to derail an effort to prevent a Staten Island school from being converted into housing for illegal immigrants.
