PROJECTS REQUESTED FOR FY27

Project Sponsor College of Staten Island
Project Description/Location: I am requesting funding to allow the College of Staten Island to modernize three core chemistry laboratories by allow critical instructional and experimentation equipment and associated infrastructure that has exceeded its functional lifespan—much of it nearly 30 years old. The project also includes the installation of new, code‑compliant ventilation hoods and environmental safety systems. These laboratories support more than 3,000 students pursuing STEM majors and an additional 7,000 students who complete required introductory science coursework each year, making these upgrades essential to ensuring safe, contemporary, and industry‑aligned learning environments. 2800 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10314.

FY27 Requested Amount: $2,400,000

Project Sponsor: NYPD
Project Description/Location: I am requesting funding to strengthen the NYPD’s ability to respond quickly, effectively, and safely during emergencies while building trust and visibility in the communities that need it most in Brooklyn and Staten Island. The initiative will fund the acquisition of six (6) mobile generator trailers, providing reliable, deployable power to support critical law enforcement and emergency response operations across New York City. In high-crime neighborhoods and during major incidents—such as power outages, severe weather events, or public safety emergencies—these generator trailers will enable the rapid deployment of mobile command posts, lighting systems, and essential communication equipment. This enhanced capability will allow officers to respond faster, operate more effectively in the field, and maintain a consistent presence in areas prone to violence, ultimately helping to deter criminal activity and stabilize communities. 1 Police Plaza, New York, NY 10038.

FY27 Requested Amount: $1,080,000

Project SponsorNYPD
Project Description/Location: I am requesting funding to provide the NYPD Emergency Service Unit (ESU) with modern ear protection designed to reduce harmful noise exposure from gunfire, explosions, and heavy equipment, while still allowing officers to clearly hear commands and communicate in real time. By preserving situational awareness in high-stress environments, this equipment enables officers to make faster, more accurate decisions—directly improving response times and coordination during critical incidents. Reliable communication and reduced auditory impairment are key factors in preventing errors, enhancing team performance, and ensuring that operations are carried out as safely and efficiently as possible. This will allow the NYPD ESU to safely respond to high-risk emergencies in my district in Brooklyn and Staten Island. 1 Police Plaza, New York, NY 10038.

FY26 Requested Amount: $676,500

Project Sponsor: NYPD
Project Description/Location:  I am requesting funding to provide the NYPD funding for the acquisition of three additional vehicles and provide overtime for uniformed members of service (UMOS) to support targeted crime reduction initiatives, including burglary prevention initiatives, and enhance community relations through targeted at-risk youth events on Staten Island. Providing funding for this initiative directly benefits taxpayers by enabling the NYPD to deploy a greater number of in-service vehicles simultaneously. Overtime funding will enable NYPD to focus on high-priority crime reduction operations, particularly targeted burglary prevention, while also supporting community-based initiatives that foster trust, strengthen relationships with residents, and enhance public safety. By combining enhanced enforcement capabilities with proactive community engagement, this initiative strengthens law enforcement effectiveness, promotes officer safety, and builds safer, more connected communities. 1 Police Plaza, New York, NY 10038.
