Malliotakis Statement on Bowman Censure

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11), today released the following statement regarding the bipartisan censure of Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) for intentionally pulling a fire alarm in a House office building to delay official congressional proceedings. 

"Representative Jamaal Bowman's juvenile stunt of pulling a fire alarm twelve hours before a government shutdown during the middle of a vote was not only irresponsible and dangerous, but violated both local and federal law. Mr. Bowman, formerly a middle school principal who is well aware of the old 'fire alarm' trick, should be held to the same standard as his students. He pled guilty to the crime, and today the House rightfully took bipartisan action to hold him accountable."
