Malliotakis Helps Brooklyn Senior Restore Social Security Payments

Our office recently helped an 89-year-old Brooklyn resident restore his monthly Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments from the Social Security Administration (SSA).
In October, this constituent was notified that he had too much money in his savings account to be eligible for SSI that he had been receiving. He also received a letter from SSA claiming he owned a savings account that in reality, he did not own. After receiving proof from his bank, he went to the SSA to file an appeal, but after checking his online portal he found his SSI status was still suspended with no record of an appeal ever being filed.
He contacted our office and we reached out to the SSA on his behalf to inquire about the status of his appeal. Within a month, our office received word that they removed the savings account from his record, accepted his appeal and restored the monthly SSI payments he needs to survive.
