My office recently helped a private school in our district serving children with special needs recover $158,800 owed to them by the Department of Education for reimbursement.
Under the law, the city is responsible for reimbursing private schools for the tuition of special needs children that require an individual education plan (IEP) that cannot be provided at a public school.

On June 1, Mayor de Blasio announced senior centers would reopen on June 14 for indoor and outdoor activities on June 14, however, most senior centers remain closed.
