(WASHINGTON, DC) - Last week, Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) joined over 130 House Republicans and over 40 Senators in filing an amicus brief to the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) in the upcoming case considering the Biden Administration’s top-down Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) requiring private employers with over 100 employees to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine or weekly testing.
A retired NYPD officer contacted my office looking for assistance with the IRS. The officer's disability pension was tax-exempt, however, five years ago the IRS sent him a debt notice for failure to pay taxes on his pension.
The officer's accountant sent all of the necessary paperwork to the IRS to prove that the man was tax-exempt, but the officer continued to receive notices of debt due. The IRS placed a lien on his house and started taking $310 out of his monthly social security check.
My office recently helped a private school in our district serving children with special needs recover $158,800 owed to them by the Department of Education for reimbursement.
Under the law, the city is responsible for reimbursing private schools for the tuition of special needs children that require an individual education plan (IEP) that cannot be provided at a public school.
Recently, a constituent and his attorney contacted my office looking for assistance in contacting the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
