This was the second trip to Israel for the Congressional freshman, who represents Staten Island and Bay Ridge, having previously visited as an Assemblywoman in 2019 with the National Council of Young Israel. This trip included meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Defense Minister Benny Gantz and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid; and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

Gregory Meeks (D-NY), met with Theophilos III, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem and all of Palestine, Israel, Syria beyond the Jordan River, Cana of Galilee and Holy Zion. Theophilos III was officially enthroned as Patriarch on November 22, 2005.

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) today, with the support of local elected officials, wrote a letter to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio calling on the city to reopen New York City senior centers that are funded under contract with the New York City Department for the Aging (DFTA) as soon as possible. On June 1, Mayor de Blasio announced senior centers would reopen on June 14 for indoor and outdoor activities on June 14, however, most senior centers remain closed.
