STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A New Brighton institution announced nearly half a million dollars in federal funding Thursday after receiving more than $50 million in city funds last year.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-East Shore/Brooklyn) joined kids, staff and community members at the Goodhue Center to announce the $494,000 in the federal budget that will go to a variety of improvements, including a new gymnasium floor.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Legislation that would establish an offshore wind revenue-sharing model between the federal government and states adjacent to offshore wind farms was introduced in Congress on Friday by Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn).

Dubbed the Offshore Wind for Northeastern Energy Revenue (OWNER) Act, Malliotakis introduced the legislation to coincide with Earth Day.

“Gifted & Talented programs maximize students’ full academic potential and accelerate the development of skills needed to be competitive in the real world,” said Congresswoman Malliotakis. “I’m pleased to see Mayor Adams reverse the previous Administration’s nonsensical decision to eliminate these programs.”

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Russia announced Wednesday that it would sanction hundreds of U.S. lawmakers as tensions continue to escalate with the European nation.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn) was among the 398 members of the House and Senate sanctioned in a pre-emptive response to another wave of American sanctions against Russia that President Biden’s administration announced March 24.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. --- The Notre Dame Club of Staten Island were the recipients of a 10,000 pound donation from Goya Food as part of the group’s 31st Annual Bread of Life Food Drive (BOLD).

The donations will benefit 25 food pantries across Staten Island as well as the Bay Ridge Community Center.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/South Brooklyn) and Goya facilitated the donation.

The federal legislators secured over $1.8 million in federal funds that were included in an appropriations bill recently signed by President Joseph Biden.
