(NEW YORK, NY) – Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) today announced the Parade Committee of the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York has named her a Grand Marshal for New York’s Greek Independence Day Parade this Sunday, June 5, on Fifth Avenue. A contingent of Greece’s Presidential Guard Corps, the Evzones, will also march in the parade and participate in other parade events to uplift the spirits of the Greek-American community.

NEW YORK – Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) on June 1 reminded constituents to check their passports to avoid delays due to application backlogs as the summer vacation season begins. Since taking office, the congresswoman’s office has helped roughly 700 constituents who ran the risk of missing their travel plans obtain passports and renewals. She was among those who advocated that passport agencies return to pre-pandemic staffing levels to deal with backlogs. The Department of State announced the pre-pandemic staffing level took effect this week.

The borough’s current and most recent members of Congress joined almost 1,000 Americans over the weekend on a Russian list of our countrymen banned from entering the country.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn) and her Democratic predecessor, Max Rose, both appeared on the list of 963 Americans permanently barred fro entering the Russian Federation.

This isn’t Malliotakis’ first time on a list of Russian sanctions since the nation’s invasion of its neighbor Ukraine.

On May 17, Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) joined members of the Congressional Hellenic Caucus and House Committee on Foreign Affairs in attending meetings with Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Kyriakos Mitsotakis following his address to a Joint Session of Congress. During the meetings, the lawmakers discussed several issues important to U.S.-Greece relations, including energy independence, military cooperation, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and Turkish aggression.

Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) administrators walked Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/South Brooklyn) through their new Gruppuso Integrated Women and Newborn Center, for which she secured $2 million in federal funding, on Monday.

SIUH will utilize the funding to finish building the center, which will include 10 labor, delivery and recovery rooms; three operating rooms; 37 maternity beds; and 12 nursery bassinets. Construction of the center is expected to be completed next year.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- It has been a few weeks since Great Kills resident Ivan Zubkov and his wife Daria Sorokina, who is a Ukrainian citizen, returned safely to the U.S.

For the first time on Thursday, the couple met face-to-face with Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/South Brooklyn) and her staff who assisted them in evacuating Ukraine.

Zubkov and Sorokina, chatted with the congresswoman and her staff over a Mother Mousse cake that they brought along with flowers as tokens of their appreciation.
