Malliotakis Helps Widow Secure Benefits Owed from Social Security Administration

Received over $3,000 in back pay
A Staten Island constituent turned to our office for assistance after the Social Security Administration (SSA) repeatedly denied her request for spousal benefits after her husband passed away.
Following her husband's passing last year, this constituent - who is originally from Pakistan - submitted requested documents from the SSA along with her Pakistani marriage certificate, which she learned was not accepted by the SSA.
Following nine visits to the SSA office without any luck, this constituent contacted our office for assistance. Our office called and emailed the SSA office and resubmitted the requested documents on her behalf. Recently we learned she has been approved to receive an increased monthly payment, which includes benefits from her late husband's record, along with over $3,000 in back pay she was owed since her husband's passing.
