Malliotakis Helps Resident Resolve Issue with United States Postal Service
Recently a constituent contacted my office looking for assistance with contacting a Brooklyn post office manager to inform him that his USPS drivers were parking in front of a fire hydrant on 5th avenue. The constituent said USPS trucks were parking in front of the fire hydrant every day and were sometimes left there overnight, posing a safety hazard if the FDNY needed quick access to the hydrant.
This constituent brought this issue to the attention of my predecessor and members of the New York City Council for years but the issue was left unresolved. My office went and collected photos of the parked USPS trucks and contacted the post office on this constituents' behalf to make them aware of the issue. Since our office reached out, there have not been any USPS vehicles parked in front of the hydrant
