Malliotakis Helps Nigerian Immigrant Receive Green Card After Six Year Delay

Our office recently helped a Nigerian immigrant from Brooklyn receive her Green Card after being caught in the immigration system for six years.
Six years ago, this constituent's husband filed a petition to establish her as an eligible relative wishing to come to the United States to become a lawful permanent resident. Her husband's petition was accepted, and she left Nigeria and legally came to the United States in 2018.
Upon coming to the U.S., this constituent applied for her Green Card and was interviewed shortly there after. She was asked to provide additional documents, which she submitted, and was called back for a second interview four years later. Since her second interview in 2022, this constituent did not receive any updates or responses from United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) as the agency was sending materials to an old address.
Her case remained pending at the USCIS/Brooklyn Field Office, so she contacted our office looking for assistance in expediting her request. We contacted the Brooklyn USCIS office several times on her behalf, and we recently learned that this constituent finally received her Green Card earlier this month after initially submitting her application six years ago.
"God bless the Congresswoman, she is the best!," the constituent said. "I felt very comfortable going to her office, everyone treated me with kindness, and I knew that her team would help me. There were a lot of problems with my case and her office never gave up until I got my green card. I am very grateful for her office's help. God bless America!”
