A local agency that provides social work services for 3,000 seniors and disabled individuals in our district reached out to our office after they were denied over $1 million from Medicare for the 60 providers they bill for.

In July, the agency submitted a reconsideration request for the bill to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), triggering a 90-day time period for CMS to respond. CMS did not respond within the designated time from and the agency became very close to losing the ability to re-bill despite being told they had done nothing wrong, so they reached out to our office to help get their billing back on schedule.

Recently, our office was told CMS had cleared the billing for three of the 60 providers. We continued to push them to clear the billing for the remaining 57 providers as everything was in order, to which they did. This agency will now get the over $1 million they were initially entitled to for services rendered and they can continue providing critical care our seniors need.
