Malliotakis Helps Family Reunite for Birth of Grandchild

Our office recently helped a constituent's mother get a B1/B2 visiting visa so she could be present for the birth of her first grandchild.
Our constituent is due to have her first child at the end of March, and she wanted her mother, who lives in Kosovo, to be present for the child's arrival.
The mother submitted an application for the visa, and had an interview at the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo yesterday, February 21. Since visiting visa requests are frequently denied, our office contacted the Consular Chief at the embassy on the mother's behalf, providing them with additional information and documentation, including a letter from her daughter's doctor, proof of relationship and photographs of the mother and daughter together.
Within a day, our office learned that the mother's visiting visa had been approved, and she is now able to come to the United States to be present for the birth of her first grandchild.
