Malliotakis Helps Constituent Secure Owed Social Security Payments, Care for Disabled Niece
Earlier this month, a constituent reached out to my office seeking assistance with Social Security Insurance (SSI). When he became the legal guardian of his developmentally disabled niece, he found himself struggling to pay for the 24/7 caregiver support she required.
When her mother, the original representative payee for SSI, passed away in November of 2021, my constituent immediately contacted the Social Security Administration (SSA) to resume payments. After months of silence from the agency, he sought intervention from my office. In just over a week, we were able to contact SSA, help to provide him $8,703.80 in missing SSI payments and make our constituent the primary representative payee for his niece. He is now able to continue his admirable work caring for her without the financial strain of paying for around-the-clock support.
