Malliotakis Helps Constituent Resolve Years-Long Issue with Social Security Administration

Constituent Services

Recently, my office advocated on behalf of a constituent with a permanent disability to restore his Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).

When this constituent's only parent passed away, the Social Security Administration (SSA) discontinued the SSDI payments he had been receiving since childhood. Not only did SSA withhold his payments for the past three years, but they also claimed he owed $16,000 in back payments.

The constituent sought assistance and appealed many times to reverse the decision, but his efforts were unsuccessful. Once he reached out to our office, we were able to contact the SSA to resolve the case and restore the payments the constituent was entitled to.

UPDATE (7/21/23):

Not only was my office able to restore this constituent's SSDI payments after years of delay, but we were able to recover more than $60,000 in payments SSA withheld from him and convinced SSA to wipe the $16,000 back payments they claimed he owed. He is beyond thrilled!
