Malliotakis Helps Constituent Recover Tax Refund from IRS

Our office recently helped a constituent recover his 2023 Tax Refund from the IRS after months of delay. 

This constituent filed his taxes on March 11, 2024, with a refund amount of $77,000. By May, he still had not received his refund from the IRS so he reached out to our office for help.

We contacted the Taxpayer Advocate's office on his behalf to open a case and inquire about the status of his return. In pressing the agency to provide a status update, we learned his account had been frozen over concerns of potential fraud. To rectify this, we worked with the agency and constituent to re-verify his identity and submit the additional documentation required. 

His identity was confirmed, and we recently learned this constituent received his refund - plus interest - totaling $79,480.22!
