Malliotakis Helps Brooklyn Constituent Travel to Care for Sick Relative

Our office recently helped a Brooklyn constituent obtain documents so she could travel to care for her father who was facing a severe medical condition and required emergency medical treatment.
In October 2023, this constituent applied for an I-131 form, otherwise known as a refugee travel document, so she could care for her father who was seeking specialized care in Instanbul, Turkey. As her father's sole remaining family member and translator, it was urgent for her to be by his side while he received medical treatment.
After three months, she still had not received an update from USCIS, so she contacted our office for help.
Our office contacted USCIS on her behalf to request an expedited review of her application, and passed along medical records and a letter to prove the urgency of her father's medical situation. Within three weeks we received word that her I-131 application had been approved, and she was able to board a flight to Turkey today to be by her father's side.
