Malliotakis Gets Squatters Removed from Residential Block

A constituent recently contacted our office looking for assistance in removing squatters from a house on his street.
For two years, squatters had occupied this home where they sold drugs, allowed the home to fall into disrepair and let their aggressive dogs roam freely around the neighborhood. The NYPD had received several complaints about the illegal tenants, however, nothing seemed to be getting done.
The constituent contacted our office, and on his behalf, we contacted the the NYPD and asked that they act according to New York's new Squatter Law that cracks down on individuals who illegally take over private homes as their own.
After our office intervened the squatters vacated the property, and our office is continuing to work with local partners to ensure the home is boarded up so others cannot move in.
