Malliotakis Statement on Sale of Staten Island's Global Container Terminal

Deal will produce thousands of jobs and boost local economy
(STATEN ISLAND, NY) - Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) today released the following statement regarding the sale of Staten Island's Global Container Terminal (GCT) to CGM America:
“I am pleased to hear that the Port Authority, Global Container Terminal and CGM America have come to a lease agreement through 2047 that allows the sale of our Staten Island terminal to CGM America to move forward. With the Port Authority’s approval of this deal, this facility will remain integral to Staten Island for many more years to come and its scheduled expansion promises to produce thousands more jobs and a much larger economic impact in the region. During our House Ways and Means Committee field hearing on trade at the terminal, I highlighted that we will be seeing this facility’s capacity increase by 65% through 2027 and double by 2030 thanks to private investment and federal infrastructure funding. I will continue to work closely with all parties until the sale is complete.”
