Malliotakis Statement on Russia's Invasion of Ukraine

Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis released the below statement following Russia's full-scale military invasion of Ukraine:

"Overnight, Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It’s incredibly sad to see a sovereign nation become the victim of unprovoked attacks for no reason other than a tyrant’s desire for power and territory at the great expense of freedom, bloodshed and the destruction of innocent lives. It is past time for our President to act decisively and with strength to unleash crippling sanctions to bring Putin’s economy to its knees. Members on both sides of the aisle have urged for over a month that he halt Nord Stream 2 (which he did yesterday) and impose crippling economic sanctions which could have prevented this situation in its entirety. We should also send weapons and equipment as Ukrainians fight to save their country and protect their freedom, and we must immediately ramp up domestic energy production for our own energy independence and security and to give Europe an alternative to being beholden to Putin for its energy needs. Lastly, our community has a growing Ukrainian population, many of whom still have family in their homeland. Please keep their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers."
