Malliotakis Statement on Biden Administration Changing Its Tune on COVID Origins

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) released the following statement regarding the U.S. Department of Energy concluding that an accidental laboratory leak most likely caused the coronavirus pandemic, according to classified documents recently provided to the White House and Members of Congress.
"For nearly two years, Dr. Fauci, the Biden Administration and Congressional Democrats have dismissed House Republicans’ claims that COVID-19 originated and was leaked from the Chinese Communist Party’s Wuhan Institute of Virology. We exposed the lab for genetically modifying coronaviruses, we exposed a number of scientists who fell ill will COVID-like symptoms, and we exposed that the viral sequence database was scrubbed from their website. Despite this mounting evidence and our calls to investigate and confirm this theory, Democrats ignored our requests, called us conspiracy theorists, and in turn obstructed our ability to get answers for the American people. Furthermore, Republicans have exposed that American tax dollars made their way from the National Institutes of Health to the Wuhan Lab via EcoHealth Alliance. Under Speaker Pelosi, our Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus refused to hold hearings on the virus' origin or the role American tax dollars may have played in the development of the virus itself, but now that Republicans are in charge we intend to get the American people the truth and answers they deserve.”
Malliotakis is a member of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis and previously served on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs when Republicans released their report which found evidence that the virus leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, which is holding its first roundtable meeting of the 118th Congress this week, has requested and received 900 pages of records from the Department of Health and Human Services to review the Biden Administration's handling of the pandemic.
