Malliotakis Secures Over $11.2 Million For Various Projects Across Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn

March 9, 2022

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today, Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) announced that she has secured $11,276,560 for various projects across Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022, the federal government's operational budget. In July, Malliotakis was able to get funding for nine local projects reported out of the House Appropriations Committee. Today, the bill was passed out of the House. It is expected to pass out of the Senate and be sent to the President's desk.

"At a time when other elected officials are looking to strip resources from our police, I'm proud to have fought for funding to give the NYPD protective gear and forensic equipment, along with funding to expand their K9 unit," Malliotakis said. "Additionally, the pandemic showed us that we must invest in our health care system, and this bill delivers $5.8 million to three local hospitals so they can make improvements to their facilities and modernize equipment. Lastly, the St. George Theatre has been a gem in our community but has suffered a great financial loss during the pandemic, and I'm happy to deliver $1.5 million to fund their capital improvements in this budget. I promised to go to Washington and fight for Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn, and I'm proud to deliver more than $11.2 million directly to organizations in our community, and much more funding will come to our district from this federal budget."
