Malliotakis Reaction to State of the Union Address

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) released the following statement in response to President Biden's State of the Union Address:

"The rosy picture President Biden painted at tonight’s State of the Union is far from the nightmare Americans have been dealing with for the past three years. The reality is under the Biden Administration, our country has become less secure, our cities have become less safe, and middle-class families and small businesses have become less prosperous as increased gas, electricity, food costs and interest rates have made living in American unaffordable. While Americans struggle, Democrats trip over themselves to give billions of their hard-earned tax dollars to those living in our country illegally.

"In tonight’s address President Biden tried to put the blame on Congress, but failed to mention that he has the Executive Authority to end the many crises he's created today. More than 10 million migrants have crossed our border illegally since he took office, including 340 on the terrorist watch list, inflation continues to crush middle-class families, and our adversaries like China, Russia, and Iran, are more emboldened and powerful than ever before. 

"While House Republicans have been fighting tooth and nail against the President and Senate’s far-left agenda, the reality is we only control of only 1/3 of the federal government. We’ve had some success in defunding Biden’s 87,000 IRS agents, passing legislation to increase domestic energy production, secure our border, lower taxes for hardworking families, and enact good government reforms to restore transparency and fiscal responsibility, however, the only way we can truly unravel the damage caused by this Administration is if President Biden honestly addresses the crises his policies have created. Until then he’s doing a major disservice the American people who deserve commonsense leadership at all levels of government."
