Malliotakis Reaction to State of The Union Address

February 8, 2023

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) released the below statement following President Biden's State of the Union Address:

"With President Biden and Congressional Democrats at the helm for two years, our country has become less secure, our cities less safe, and American families and businesses less prosperous as inflation hit a 40-year high and our debt has reached $31.5 trillion, all while our adversaries are more emboldened.

"House Republicans are working diligently to reverse the tide, and in our first month, we have passed legislation to unravel the damage caused under one-party Democrat rule. We've defunded Biden's 87,000 IRS agents, passed policies to increase domestic energy production, established a committee to investigate the Chinese Communist Party, repealed arbitrary vaccine mandates, require federal employees to return to the workplace, and enacted good government reforms to create transparency and restore fiscal responsibility.

"The State of Our Union is not the rosy picture President Biden painted tonight. His failure to address these issues openly and honestly is a disservice to the American people and his party's delusion only makes it harder to pass commonsense solutions to provide relief to the American people who are forced to carry the burden of these crises each and every day. Republicans have solutions, but we need the Senate and President to join us in enacting them to get our nation back on track and deliver relief for our fellow Americans."
