Malliotakis: No Place for Omar on Foreign Affairs Committee

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) applauded the removal of Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-05) from the House Committee on Foreign Affairs due to her repeated anti-American and antisemitic statements about the United States and our allies.

"In June of 2021, I led my colleagues in calling for Rep. Omar's immediate removal from the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. While Nancy Pelosi and Democrat leadership turned a blind eye to her offensive, anti-American remarks, I'm happy to see Speaker McCarthy take swift action to remove this liability from the committee. Representative Omar has spewed anti-semitic rhetoric, likened the United States and Israel to terrorist organizations like Hamas and the Taliban, blamed our country for the turmoil in socialist countries like Venezuela, and belittled our country's worst terrorist attack as 'some people did something.' While she can continue to represent her constituents on other congressional committees, she simply has no place on a committee tasked with representing Congress to foreign governments."
