Malliotakis: Migrant Shooting of Cops Was 100% Preventable

(NEW YORK, NY) - Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) today released the following statement regarding the overnight shooting of two NYPD officers in Queens by an illegal migrant from Venezuela:
"This morning, New Yorkers woke up to the news that yet again, two NYPD officers were senselessly attacked, this time shot, by a migrant in Queens. Thankfully, both officers are in stable condition and expected to fully recover from their injuries, but this attack is a direct result of President Biden’s 60 border policy changes, Mayor Adams’ misinterpretation of Right to Shelter and New York City and State’s misguided sanctuary policies. This individual, who has been residing in a hotel migrant shelter on taxpayers’ dime, crossed our border illegally last year, and is suspected in a string of “snatch and grab” robberies and pickpocketing schemes in New York City. By refusing to cooperate with ICE officials to detain and deport dangerous criminals, Mayor Adams and the City Council are allowing illegal migrants to continue wreaking havoc on our streets, all at the taxpayers’ expense. It’s time for Democrats at the city, state, and federal level to STOP protecting, housing, and providing free services for these individuals and get serious about putting American citizens and our law enforcement officers first."
