Malliotakis on Lifting of Vaccine Mandate: City Workers Should be Reinstated Immediately

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11), a member of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, released the following statement regarding New York City Mayor Adams lifting the vaccine mandate for current and prospective city workers effective February 10, 2023.

"The reversal of this arbitrary vaccine mandate is something my Republican colleagues and I have long advocated for. Last week, the House passed legislation to end President Biden’s COVID emergency powers and end the vaccine mandate on healthcare workers at federal healthcare facilities. Previously, we've passed legislation to end the mandate on our military and won a lawsuit to prevent Biden’s mandate on private employers from taking effect. Thousands of city employees - including law enforcement officers and sanitation workers - have been unfairly stripped of their livelihoods due to this draconian mandate and I urge the City to reinstate their employment immediately."
