Malliotakis: The lies & meritless attacks on Trump must stop

(NEW YORK, NY) - Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) released the following statement calling for the inflammatory rhetoric and meritless attacks against President Trump to subside following the attempted assassination attempt at his rally in Butler, PA:

"Ever since President Trump came down the escalator nine years ago and announced his candidacy he has been vilified, smeared and disparaged by his opposition who have seized every opportunity to destroy him personally, professionally and financially. From sham impeachment investigations to meritless indictments and convictions, attempts to bankrupt him, remove him from the ballot and throw him in jail. This type of vile politics and irresponsible rhetoric, like President Biden saying "it's time to put Trump in a bullseye" just five days prior, led to Saturday's assassination attempt and must be vehemently rejected by all Americans. While we may disagree with each other on policy, we must be able to debate our ideas and policies on the House Floor, in the media, and at the ballot box and never resort to political violence."
