Malliotakis Hires Asian Community Liaison

Chris Zhang will oversee outreach to and case management for NY-11's Asian Community
(BROOKLYN, NY) - Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) today announced the hiring of Chris Zhang, a longtime Brooklyn resident originally from China, as her office's Asian Community Liaison to oversee outreach to and case management for residents of New York's 11th Congressional District who are of Asian descent.
"Because of redistricting, our new district now includes a large, thriving Asian constituency, many of whom still speak their native language," Malliotakis said. "As an office that prides itself on providing outstanding constituent services, having Chris will allow us to keep the Asian community informed on the work we're doing in Congress and better serve their needs when they call us for assistance with federal agencies. As a longtime New Yorker and an active community volunteer, Chris brings invaluable insight to our office and we're happy to have him join our team."
"I want to thank the Congresswoman for giving me this opportunity to serve the residents of New York's 11th Congressional District," Zhang said. "The Congresswoman's top priority is representing the needs of Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn in Congress and I'm honored to work with her and the rest of her team, using my ability to speak Chinese to assist constituents in our community."
Chris (Yaoyu) Zhang is a longtime Brooklyn resident who emigrated from China to New York City in 1986. Chris speaks and writes fluently in Mandarin, Cantonese, and Wenzhounese.
Chris is an active volunteer at the Chinese Evangelical Free Church in his spare time and serves on the Parent Teacher Association at Brooklyn Technical High School. He currently resides in Dyker Heights with his wife and two sons.
