Malliotakis: Foreign Affairs Committee Must Hold Immediate Hearing & Demand Accountability

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11), member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, is demanding a hearing be held immediately by the House Foreign Affairs Committee to obtain necessary answers and accountability regarding the Biden Administration's flawed Afghanistan withdrawal and abandonment of American citizens and Afghan partners:
"Many questions remain unanswered regarding the Biden Administration's flawed withdrawal from Afghanistan. From the failure to evacuate all American citizens prior to pulling U.S. troops off the ground, to the inability to provide Congress and the public with a headcount of Americans stranded, to the disorganization of the Special Immigrant Visa application and vetting process. The Administration's incompetence has left American citizens and our vulnerable Afghan partners defenseless behind enemy lines with a target on their backs. The Administration insists they will continue to evacuate Americans but they have not presented Congress with a plan as to how. This is an utter disgrace and complete and total failure of leadership that must be held to account.”
"I and my fellow Americans want and will continue to demand accountability from President Biden and his Administration. Secretary Blinken must come before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and answer every single one of our questions regardless of how long it takes. Additionally, Speaker Pelosi should call the entire U.S. House of Representatives back into session as soon as possible to conduct a full and thorough classified briefing which can only be done in person."
