January 27, 2025

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) has announced the election of Representative Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) to its Board of Directors which is comprised of Members of Congress, executive leadership from Fortune 500 corporations, national trade associations, and small businesses. This esteemed body of leaders contributes their collective expertise, time, and resources to further CHLI's vision of advancing the Hispanic community’s diversity of thought by preparing, connecting, and honoring current and future leaders.

"As we saw in November's election, Hispanic Americans are more engaged in politics than ever before, and just like many other Americans, they are concerned about inflation, crime and national security," Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis said. "As the proud daughter of a Cuban refugee, it’s an honor to be elected to serve on CHLI's Board of Directors where I can advance my work to amplify the voices of the Hispanic community and advocate for common sense policies that protect our freedoms and promote greater economic opportunity for all."

"We are honored to have Congresswoman Malliotakis join CHLI’s distinguished Board of Directors. As a respected voice in the House of Representatives, she will significantly enhance CHLI’s mission of developing future leaders and advancing thoughtful policy solutions through bipartisan dialogue," said CHLI Chairwoman, The Honorable Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.

Malliotakis was the recipient of the 2024 CHLI Leadership in Public Service Award, recognizing her outstanding contributions to public service and her dedication to advancing opportunities for future leaders. Her mother was born in Cuba and emigrated to the United States in 1959. As the daughter of immigrants and a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, her leadership and commitment to the Hispanic community ensure CHLI’s continued advocacy for economic progress and social responsibility.

CHLI is the premier organization founded by Members of Congress and corporate leaders to advance the Hispanic community’s economic progress with a focus on social responsibility and global competitiveness. Founded in 2003, CHLI is a 501(c)3 non-profit and non-partisan organization. CHLI is dedicated to fostering a broad awareness of the diversity of thought, heritage, interests, and views of Americans of Hispanic and Portuguese descent. CHLI’s purpose is to prepare future leaders through internships, fellowships, scholarships, and leadership conferences.
