Malliotakis, Col. Jacobs Announce Significant Investment in U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hamilton

(BROOKLYN, NY) - Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) and Fort Hamilton Army Base Commander Col. Brian Jacobs today announced the Department of the Army is making significant investments in U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, NY.
Specifically, the U.S. Army has invested more than $27 million to begin the construction of a state-of-the-art Information Systems Node Facility which will provide essential voice and data communication capabilities. Additionally, the U.S. Army will invest $30 million to construct a new Child Development Center which will provide high-quality childcare services for Service Members and their families.
"This investment shows that the Department of Defense understands the important role Fort Hamilton plays as a strategic hub for New York City and our country as a whole," Congresswoman Malliotakis said. "This funding will allow the base to completely rebuild its Informations Systems Facility which is currently non-habitable for our soldiers, and increase the number of children the base can provide services for by nearly 50%. We are extremely grateful for everything Fort Hamilton does to support our community and the other military branches and I'm confident this investment will assist them in future missions."
Last year, as part of the FY23 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), Congress secured a 4.6% raise for servicemembers and veterans, marking the largest pay increase in decades and roughly double the increase of the year prior. According to military officials, this pay raise translates to about $1,300 more over the course of the year for junior troops and $2,500 for senior enlisted and junior officers. Retired military and veterans who receive disability payments will see an $87 increase for each $1,000 of military retirement pension they receive each month.
"On behalf of our Fort Hamilton Team, we would like to thank the Congresswoman once again for her continued support and advocacy for Fort Hamilton and our mission," said Colonel Jacobs, Commander of U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hamilton. "As an Army Garrison, we have the necessary funding and Army Senior Leadership support to continue our mission of providing essential services to keep Fort Hamilton thriving as a premier Army installation in support of our Military Service Members in NYC and the metro area."
