Malliotakis Calls on Mayor to Revisit Permit Request for Annual Memorial Day Parade
May 10, 2021
(WASHINGTON, DC) - Following Mayor de Blasio's refusal to allow the United Staten Island Veterans Organization to hold their annual Memorial Day Parade, Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) reached out to the NYPD Counsel's office urging them to revisit the request and issued the following statement:
"The Mayor must revisit his policy that's denying Staten Island veterans a permit for the annual Memorial Day Parade. With or without a permit, I intend to join those who fought for our freedoms to honor the men and women who selflessly died for our country. By lifting his executive order, the Mayor can not only do the right thing but can easily save his administration from any further embarrassment."
