Malliotakis: Biden's Actions Against Russia Speak Louder than Words
(WASHINGTON, DC) - Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11), Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today released the following statement regarding President Biden's first meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva today:
"President Biden talks tough when it comes to Russia, but his actions speak louder than his words," said Congresswoman Malliotakis. "The Biden Administration extended the New START Treaty without demanding any concessions from Russia, waived sanctions to allow Russia to move forward with the Nord Stream 2 pipeline while canceling our Keystone XL pipeline, and has not demanded any accountability for the cyberattacks committed against our country by Russian hacking groups. And, just prior to the start of today's summit, Russian ships were conducting the largest military exercise since the Cold War just a few hundred miles off the coast of Hawaii. President Putin smells weakness and continues to test the Biden Administration to see how far he can go. It's time for President Biden to put his money where his mouth is and get tough on Russia."
Malliotakis sits on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs where she serves as the Ranking Member for the Subcommittee on International Development, International Organizations and Global Corporate Social Impact in addition to sitting on the Subcommittee on Europe, Energy, the Environment and Cyber.
