Malliotakis Applauds Rubio’s Visit to Greece, Calls for Stronger U.S.-Greece Security Partnership

October 6, 2026

(STATEN ISLAND, NY) — Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) released the following statement ahead of Secretary of State Marco Rubio's visit to Athens for the Sixth U.S.-Greece Strategic Dialogue.

“Greece is one of America’s most reliable NATO allies, and I applaud Secretary Rubio’s visit to Athens for the Sixth U.S.-Greece Strategic Dialogue. This is an opportunity to deepen our defense cooperation, including Greece’s F-35 acquisition and U.S. military access at Souda Bay and Alexandroupolis. It is also an opportunity to expand American liquefied natural gas exports through Greece, helping Europe end its reliance on Russian energy. We should build on the 3+1 partnership among the United States, Greece, Cyprus, and Israel, which Secretary Rubio championed in the Senate. The United States must stand with its allies and make clear that Turkey must respect Greek sovereignty and refrain from threats and provocations. As a proud Greek-American, I know how deep the bonds between our nations run, and a strong partnership makes both countries safer and more prosperous.”
