Malliotakis: Anti-Asian & Anti-Semitic Rhetoric, Hate Crimes "Need to End Now"
(STATEN ISLAND, NY) - Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) today joined Richmond County District Attorney Michael McMahon, local Rabbis, elected officials, members of the NYPD and community leaders that make up the Hate Crime Task Force, in forcefully condemning the recent spike in hate crimes committed against Asians and members of the Jewish community in New York City.
"We are here today to strongly condemn the attacks that we're seeing on our brothers and sisters here in New York," said Congresswoman Malliotakis. "The rise in anti-Asian hate crimes, the rise in anti-Semitic hate crimes, the rise in crime altogether, is something that is disturbing and something I continue to condemn."
Malliotakis added: "People need to be mindful of the things they say on social media and in groups. All too often we hear terms thrown around as if they have no meaning. Comparing politicians to nazis; comparing mask requirements to the Holocaust; comparing the southern border crisis to concentration camps. It comes from both Republicans and Democrats in Congress and it needs to end now. We need to set an example for New Yorkers and our fellow Americans."
