STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. --- The Notre Dame Club of Staten Island were the recipients of a 10,000 pound donation from Goya Food as part of the group’s 31st Annual Bread of Life Food Drive (BOLD).

The donations will benefit 25 food pantries across Staten Island as well as the Bay Ridge Community Center.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/South Brooklyn) and Goya facilitated the donation.

“The donation from Goya to the Bread of Life Food Drive recipient organizations will have a tremendous impact on fighting food insecurity over the next several months,” Joe Delaney, BOLD executive director said.

“Sadly, we are still working to overcome food insecurities exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Delaney said.

“For more than 30 years, the Notre Dame Club of Staten Island has brought our community together to fight food insecurity and help our neighbors in need,”Malliotakis said.

“Unfortunately, these are difficult times in our city and nation, with rising food costs and a struggling economy contributing to more families needing assistance. I’m proud to facilitate this donation from Goya to directly benefit residents in our community and the organizations that go above and beyond to serve them,” she continued.

Over the years, BOLD has collected nearly two million food items from more than 100 local schools and distributed donations to more than 25 nonprofits, including Project Hospitality and Catholic Charities on Staten Island, according to borough hall.
