STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis, together with Congresswoman Judy Chu, (D, CA-28), played hosts to a breakfast with “Wonder Woman” herself, Lynda Carter, in the Lincoln Room at the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.

The breakfast served as a way for guests to learn more about the congressionally authorized Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum and how it can become a reality on the National Mall in Washington.

A LITTLE BACKGROUND

In 2020, with bipartisan support, Congress authorized the creation of two new Smithsonian museums, the National Museum of the American Latino and the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum.

Malliotakis has been working with Chu on legislation that will allow for the transfer of land from the National Park Service to the Smithsonian to add the museum to the National Mall.

The breakfast served as an opportunity for the congresswomen to meet with colleagues and garner support for their legislation.

Malliotakis noted: “As a Wonder Woman fan it was great to have the original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter at the Capitol to advocate in support of my bipartisan effort with Congresswoman Judy Chu to make the American Women’s history museum a reality. By establishing this museum, we can share the stories of the trailblazing women who came before us so future generations can learn about their many contributions, how they helped build our nation and fought for equal rights and protections under the law.”
