Malliotakis Celebrates SALT Relief in House Tax Package

May 30, 2025

(BROOKLYN, NY) - Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis was joined by Councilmember David Carr, Joseph Loccisano, President of the Dyker Heights Civic Association; Ilene Sacco, President of the 68th Precinct Community Council; members of the Dyker Heights Civic Association; local community board members; and residents to celebrate the House’s passage of a tax package that quadrupled the SALT deduction.

Malliotakis rallied with the group to call on the Senate to follow suit and pass the legislation without delay—emphasizing that hardworking New Yorkers cannot afford to wait any longer for this critical tax relief. Malliotakis also highlighted other key provisions included in the Big Beautiful Bill. In addition to increasing the SALT deduction, the legislation delivers tax relief for senior citizens, working Americans, and middle-class families with increases to the standard deduction and Child Tax Credit, protects and strengthens Medicaid for our most vulnerable, secures our borders, modernizes our national security, and unleashes American energy.

"I’m proud to be delivering long-overdue tax relief to working Americans, middle-class families and senior citizens," said Rep. Nicole Malliotakis. "As our Mayor and Governor continue to tax us to death year after year, our community is in desperate need of SALT relief. This package also includes key provisions like expanding the Child Tax Credit, funding to secure our borders, upgrading our nation's air traffic control systems, and jumpstarting domestic energy production to help lower energy costs. Together, these measures will provide the critical relief New Yorkers need and deserve."

"I really want to thank our Congresswoman because as a member of the Ways and Means Committee, as a New Yorker, serving on that committee in the majority she was able to get this done. I do not believe it would have gotten done unless we had her voice in Ways and Means and her voice in the Republican majority in the House. I really thank her for championing this it is going to mean so much to so many," said Councilmember David Carr.

Congresswoman Malliotakis, a member of the House Ways & Means Committee, helped draft and deliver meaningful tax relief that will benefit the hardworking families and senior citizens of Staten Island and Brooklyn.
