(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) delivered remarks on the House floor in support of Rep. Maria Salazar’s (FL-27) H.Con.Res.58, a resolution denouncing socialism, and opposes the implementation of socialist policies in the United States.
“Socialism is merely Communism-light and as someone whose mother fled Communist Cuba, I know firsthand how socialist policies erode prosperity and freedom, robbing hopes and dreams," said Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, whose mother fled Communist Cuba in 1959. "Unfortunately, here in the United States, we’re seeing similar radical left policies take root in cities like mine with the election of a self-declared socialist who has embraced the communist ideas of Karl Marx including seizing the means of production, government takeover of supermarkets, and abolishing private property ownership. If we are to preserve the American Dream for future generations, we must push back against these dangerous and destructive ideas, which are the very same policies millions of immigrants came to the United States to escape.”
